Mary and Joseph find room at a peninsula care home

By Derek Davis 1st Dec 2020

An inter active nativity scene is bringing comfort and joy to residents at a care home on Woolverstone.

With a life sized donkey and cow and the Star of David protecting the baby Jesus, residents and staff at Spring Lodge have been lining up to dress up as Mary and Joseph and become a part of the traditional scene.

Activities coordinator Aimee Davey dreamt up the idea and helped by handyman Jorge Casper, who created the cow and donkey by his own hands, they put together the most Christmassy of nativity scenes, complete with crib, and gold coins (made of chocolate) which has proved a hit with all at Spring Lodge.

Aimee said: "We could all do with some early Christmas cheer and this has already brought smiles to faces."

Given the national Covid restrictions visitors can not yet see the nativity scene so we are bringing it to you.
