A farming family has lost a second tractor in as many months due to fire.

Fortunately no one was injured in the blaze, although thick black smoke could be seen billowing from the burning tractor for miles around.

Two fire crews from Ipswich attended a blaze in Harkstead this afternoon when a tractor caught light while out on a field working, the driver escaped unharmed and was able to call the emergency services.

While the one destroyed today was an older model, it follows hot on the heels of a tractor around three months old being engulfed in flames near Rence Park last month. full story and picture here.

Both belonged to the Wrinch family, who have been farming land on the peninsula for generations, and it appears both were unfortunate accidents for the brothers affected.
