"Eight patients, three in their 90s, two in their 80s, two in their 70s and one in their 50s, all of whom had underlying health conditions, have sadly passed away at Colchester Hospital.

"They had all tested positive for COVID-19.

"Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patients' families and loved ones at this difficult time."

The total takes the tally to 121, with 58 deaths at Ipswich and another 113 at Colchester, and comes on the day it was revealed by the county council there were at least 458 confirmed cases, Suffolk.
