Firefighters tackled a blaze in a derelict building in Fronks Road, Dovercourt overnight.

The intensity of the huge fire could be seen as far as Shotley and was captured by Shotley Lodge home owner John Richardson at around 9pm last night.

Dovercourt residents were told by the authorities keep their windows and doors closed as the fire produced lots of smoke.

On arrival, crews from Harwich, Manningtree and Colchester reported that a large detached building was on fire with the fire spreading throughout the building.

Crews worked to extinguish the fire in sections using an Aerial Ladder Platform to tackle the fire from above and with crews working to extinguish the fire from the ground.
