UPDATED: Police comment.

Shocking footage has emerged of a deer being killed on the Shotley peninsula today.

The Essex and Suffolk hunt illegally chased and killed the small animal near Glebe lane in Woolverstone with the act being caught on camera by Suffolk Action for Wildlife.

A huntsman is heard saying: "It's a little accident", after being challenged by a monitor.

The woman witness is seen trying to comfort the deer and heard sobbing as the deer is dying in the 45 second clip.

Hounds from the hunt then went chasing after a fox, according to witnesses.

Police were called to the incident and further investigations are pending.

A Suffolk Police spokesman said: "We received a report of a muntjac (deer) being killed this morning and have begun an investigation."
