Holbrook pupils among top prize-winners in the prestigious ‘artEast’ exhibition
Royal Hospital School (RHS) in Holbrook, are delighted to announce that four RHS pupils were among the top prize winners in the prestigious 'artEast' exhibition at Framsden Hall Barn last month.
Some of RHS' GCSE and A Level artwork were exhibited, and the schools' section of the show featured works by pupils from RHS, Framlingham College, Ipswich School and Orwell Park.
From Year 12, Polly F (pictured above), was awarded a fantastic second place overall, winning a collection of art materials from a top London arts training college.
Polly said "I felt so honoured to be awarded second place with one of my GCSE art pieces. Having painted it in Year 10, I wasn't sure it would even be considered as highly commended let alone second place. I was ecstatic when I found out my painting had done so well and felt the trials of GCSE Art were well worth it."
The other RHS prize-winners were Kate C, Year 13, who won best sculpture/mixed media work, Sandy M Year 13, who won the judges choice award (her work was selected by art dealer Henny Palmer-Tomkinson and portrait painter Georgina Barclay) and Nemo X, Year 13, who was highly commended for drawing. Nemo X and Amana F (Year 11) also received offers to purchase their works.
Following their exam results this summer, Kate C secured her place to read Fine Art and Art History at Manchester Metropolitan University, Sandy M to study Graphic Digital Design at Greenwich University, and Nemo Xu to pursue Fashion Design & Innovation at Leeds University.
