Great Britain's Cadet class sailors, including Erwarton's Amelia Mayhew, are taking part in a two-day training training session off Shotley.

Crews from Hampshire, Dorset and the midlands will meet up with GB coach Matt White, brother of Coastguard volunteer Giles White, at Shotley Sailing Club Saturday and Sunday.

Spectators can watch the young crews, aged between 13 and 17 as they prepare for the World Championships in Melbourne, Australia, which take place in December.

GBs Cadet youngsters will meet at the dinghy park from 09.30 until they go out on the rising tide to train down the Stour and also out into the North Sea by Dovercourt Bay.

Watch out for Amelia and her crew Hettie Thorogood who are sailing in Boombastic.

The coaches chose Shotley as its training base for these sessions as the waters off the peninsula replicate the Melbourne course.

The GB youngsters will be back in Shotley on the first weekend of December, so come along, wave your Union flags and wish them good luck.
