Future of the game as Holbrook Hornets host Suffolk under-sevens festival

More than 100 youngsters took part in a footballing feast of fun at Holbrook today.
Holbrook Hornets were proud to host their third of the Suffolk Youth Football League Under-sevens festival, in conjunction with the county FA, for boys and girls of Year Two school age.
Clubs from all over Suffolk sent teams to the popular, well run, festival of four v four matches, all played in a good spirit.
With small-sized pitches and goals, no offsides and an emphasis on having fun, the young boys and goals are given the ideal step towards the next level of youth football.
Paul Moore, Holbrook Hornets chairman, hailed the turnout and spirit of the tournament, and underlined the importance of events such as this.
"These youngsters are the future of the sport," said Paul. "This is the third that Holbrook Hornets have hosted and they have gone down very well.
"We are grateful to all the cubs that have sent teams, and the army of volunteers, parents and coaches that support these festivals and make them such a success for the young players."
Despite the cold but dry day, the fiesta was superbly supported by parents and youth coaches, with a hot food and drink van helping to keep players and fans warm and refreshed.
Holbrook Hornets run teams from under fives to under 16s and were highly commended in the grassroots football awards by Suffolk FA in 2029.
