Figures of Covid-19 patients saved revealed as Coronavirus death rate drops

Hospital staff have saved 24 lives over the past week, as the number of deaths due to Covid-19 falls.

The East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the main Ipswich and Colchester, along with a number of Community Hospitals, which looks after people from the Shotley peninsula, today confirmed 24 coronavirus patients has been discharged.

A Trust spokesman said: "These patients are home thanks to the care and dedication of all ESNEFT colleagues."

The Trust were also able to report a drop in the number of Covid-19 victims who had succumbed, with four recorded to have died at Ipswich hospital including one man from Shotley, and six in Colchester hospital.

Nick Hulme, ESNEFT chef executive confirmed the four patients had sadly passed away at Ipswich Hospital all had underlying health conditions and had tested positive for COVID-19.

Suffolk Resilience Forum reported the amount of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Babergh was now 137, with 1,394 throughout Suffolk.
