Four people on the Shotley peninsula have died of Covid-19 related illness, according to the Office of National Statistics.

Another two victims have been confirmed in the neighbouring area covering Brantham, East Bergholt and Capel St Mary.

The victims have not been named, nor has the exact location, but all the deaths were reported between March 1 and April 17 and registered by April 18, 2020.

Coronavirus was the underlying cause, or was mentioned on the death certificate as a contributory factor.

The deaths are recorded on an interactive map on the ONS website, which tracks all registered deaths.

Slightly further afield across the rivers Orwell and Stour, there were 58 deaths confirmed in the Ipswich area, nine in the Felixstowe area, two in Harwich Town and Dovercourt, and two in Parkeston.

Nub News reported yesterday how NHS staff at the East Suffolk North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT), which operated Ipswich and Colchester hospitals, had saved another 49 patients with Covid-19 symptoms over the past week.

These recorded deaths are separate to those reported by the ESNEFT from Ipswich and Colchester hospitals.
