Planning officers have recommended Babergh's planning committee refuse permission to build eight new homes in Holbrook.

The committee will consider the controversial application on Wednesday, 22 March at Endeavour House.

Scirpus Properties Ltd from Ipswich, have applied for a hybrid outline planning application to build four two-bed dwellings and four self-build plots on land South Of Honeysuckle Cottage, Little Orchard, Holbrook, off Hymans Lane close to the fire station.

Planners will also consider associated landscaping, vehicular access off Hyams Lane and pedestrian access to Church Hill.

More than 90 objectors have formally contacted Babergh citing wide range of concerns, while six people have written inn support of the scheme.

However, Babergh's planning team has recommended refusal on the grounds including its countryside location, outside the village built up area boundary, the failure to address local housing needs, and is contrary to

The officers deem the unsustainable development is contrary to Babergh and Holbrook's emerging plans and would cause more harm than benefit.

Holbrook parish council and Babergh ward member Mary McLaren have spoken against the scheme.
