Family, good food and community is at the heart of everything Chandramauli and Bhumika Dwivedi do in work, life and play.

Amazingly the husband and wife team have just celebrated their first anniversary of taking over the Red Lion on the Main Road in Chelmondiston, and after coming in somewhat under the radar and initially just gently easing their way in, Mauli and Bhumika are now slowly but surely putting their own ideas into action.

This has included making the Red Lion in Chelmondiston even more inclusive, starting with emphasising their love of family and ensuring all ages feel included.

During the first year of taking over, Bhumika gave birth to their second daughter, who is now ten months old.

Given Chef Mauli's extensive, Michelin-starred, multi-award winning, experience it is little surprise the food is already wide acclaimed. Added to that a wide knowledge of vegetarian, and vegan dishes complements the amazing array of meat and fish plates.

But the Red Lion is now more than just a foodies destination, they encourage walkers, cyclists, dogs, and the aforementioned children - the muddy boots board outside is nt just for show, they want people to pop in and feel relaxed in a lovey setting.

Among the summer plans are outdoor events, such as coffee mornings and Pimms and strawberries afternoons, using the courtyard for these informal gatherings where chatting and meeting people is the aim.

This includes coffee mornings for various groups, and the Red Lion will be an ideal spot to watch the Tour of Britain coming past around 11.30am on Thursday, September 7.

Throw in the occasional sea shanties, and local singers, the relaxed atmosphere makes terrific use of the outside space, especially on these lovely warm afternoons and early evenings.

Among the Red Lion's regular attractions are the monthly Shotley Pier Group mornings, Friday night is Tali night, and Sunday roasts, with the couple open to any other ideas from community groups.

The Red Lion's community-inclusive approach, makes them superb sponsorship partners with Nub News.

Their values chime with our own at Nub News and we welcome them aboard.
