Popular presenter Lesley Dolphin will start her retirement on Friday, but not before she presents her last show life from the peninsula's Wherstead Park
In something of a twist, Lesley will be the sofa guest on the regular BBC Radio Suffolk afternoon show in what will be the last after 40 years in the chair.
Among her sofa guests since her afternoon show started in 2008, have been peninsula residents Griff Rhys Jones, Rick Wakeman and journalist Derek Davis.
Lesley, who lives in Felixstowe with her equally famous BBC Suffolk star Mark Murphy, now plans to spend more time with her 95-year-old dad John who lost his wife, and Lesley's mum recently.
Lesley is no stranger to the Shotley peninsula, she has featured villages from the area in her regular Dolphin's Dart competition, and presented live from the HMS Ganges Museum.
