Freston parish council is back up and running after Babergh chief executive Arthur Charvonia used his special powers to ensure meetings were being held once more.

Mr Charvonia announced at Babergh's full council meeting on Thursday how Freston's parish council had lapsed after failing to meet formally for more than the legal six month requirement.

According to the Freston PC website their last meeting before the legal intervention was in June 2021.

Mr Charvonia stepped in after Freston PC was ruled inquorate and unable to act in June this year .

That automatically meant the four serving councillors had vacated their positions due to non-attendance of meetings.

However, all four indicated they would like to be reappointed, so Henry Stogdon, Russell Ross-Smith, Vanessa Penna and Gemma Stronach are now officially back in post.

Jo Hazlewood has been appointed as the parish clerk, replacing Jill Davis who resigned last year.

The council has subsequently met three times, once in August and twice in September, although no minutes have yet been publicly published.
