Alton Water staff are today making the final preparations which will allow the park open next week.

Anglian Water, which owns the reservoir and the open spaces, confirmed the park will be fully open to the public as from Tuesday, June 2.

The aquapark will be closed and water sports will be limited to day launch only, with no hires.

The mini golf and children's playgrounds will be closed and the cafes will be offering takeaway food and drink only, but toilets will be open.

An Alton Water spokesperson today said: "It is clear that there is still a long road ahead in respect of living with Covid-19 and it'll come as no surprise that, as with all walks of our current lives, things will look a little different for some time to come.

"We will be monitoring the Government's advice and the situation at our parks as the summer progresses, and will keep you updated on any changes we need to make.

We know many have been looking forward to getting back on the local trails. As we are now confident our reopening preparations are all in place, we're very happy to let you know we will be reopening Alton Water from Tuesday 2nd June."

Please check the Alton Water webpage for full details.

Other businesses on the peninsula will also start to reopen next week with the Corner Garage workshops and petrol station opening on Monday.

Customers are asked to remain outside the kiosk or reception and they will be assisted as quickly as possible. If you need any assistance or advice call 01473 787261.

The Co-ops at Holbrook and Brantham have new opening hours. For up to date opening times for all shops, dispensaries and surgeries check our Daily Breakfast Briefing.
