An 83-year-old who was caught speeding by a speed camera in Woolverstone has been banned from driving for six months and ordered to pay more than £400.

Michael Lewis, of St Audrys Park Road, in Melton near Woodbridge, admitted speeding on May 4 last year and was taken to court by Suffolk's chief constable.

The Bury St Edmunds County Court and Family Court heard on January 10 that Lewis was clocked speeding at 37mph in a 30mph zone, on the B1456 in Woolverstone, in a Volkswagen.

Lewis was ordered by magistrates at the court to pay a fine of £250 in the hearing, told to pay a victim surcharge of £100, as well as costs of £90, meaning he has a total of £440 to pay.

He has also been disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for six months and his guilty plea was taken into account during sentencing.
