Life is very busy at Holbrook Primary School on the Shotley Peninsula where staff are preparing for the arrival of new Foundation students in September.

Before then, the school has a number of activities organised to help ease them into their next big adventure.

Then for Year 6 leavers they have a drama production to practice, a Leavers' Assembly to prepare for, along with hosting the Volunteers' Tea Party, a residential getaway to attend and so much more.

Meanwhile, throughout the school Years 3 and 4 will be attending 'Greek Day' at The Royal Hospital School and the WCET Music Event at Trinity Park where they will be playing their ukuleles and violins.

The school is continuing with weekly swimming lessons, has a Sports Day to train for along with the annual Alton Water Walk.

A school spokesperson says: "We have our PSA Colour Run and Summer Fete to look forward to along with Bikeability courses for our Year 5 and 6 students.

"Our gardening club are busy creating our Show Garden entry for the Suffolk Show. Key Stage 1 have their 'Passports Ready' for travelling around the World, including a trip to the beach to explore their Science and Geography curriculum.

"Foundation will be 'going to the airport' in our school hall, complete with check in desks, in-flight refreshments, passport control and a full staff of pilots and stewards.

"WIf you are still considering where best to send your child we currently have a few spaces for children starting school in September 2024,

"Our EYFS Induction Programme starts on the 6th June with our Teddy Bear's Picnic in the Park. In addition to an afternoon of Forest School, there will also be a Welcome to School session for adults and the children are invited for their first school lunch! Home visits happen during July and current pre-school establishments are visited in June.

"We also have some places available for in-year admissions to our current EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2. However, we encourage interested parents to make applications for all year groups."
