Orwell Stores owner Tracey Fletcher will shut up shop for the last time on Monday as she retires after 34 years running the Chelmondiston shop.

Tracey and her partner are looking to enjoy a well-earned retirement in Felixstowe and fill their days with walks along the seafront, and supporting other shops.

In an announcement made yesterday, Tracey, who is today taking a day off, said: "I would like to thank all our customers from over the years for their loyal support and fond memories, of which there are plenty."

Son Lewis helped out for a while, but has since taken a good job with an insurance company in Ipswich so did not want to follow in her early morning footsteps.

Following a deal finalised yesterday, (Monday, April 4) the shop will continue to stay open with new owner Caroline Chicken taking over.

Tracy said: "We would like to wish all the best to Caroline Chicken and her team in taking over the reins of Orwell Stores."

Villagers already aware of Tracey's impending retirement have already expressed their gratitude at all her hard work, sadness at her leaving but giving best wished for the future.
