Community is one of the core values of Nub News - it's at the heart of everything we do. That's why we're supporting local businesses and promoting the 'shop local' message in the run up to Christmas.

Following Prime Minister Boris Johnson's announcement in the House of Commons, non-essential shops, restaurants and pubs on the Shotley peninsula are expected to reopen at the beginning of December, and will be keen to encourage customers back to the high street during what is normally one of the busiest periods of the year.

To help traders get back on their feet, Peninsula Nub News is launching a virtual Christmas market - a place where local traders can share details of their festive stock, menus, special offers and deals, opening times, etc.

This will be regularly updated and shared on our website, Facebook and Twitter pages. And the best part is it's completely FREE to take part.

Simply email the name of your business along with a picture if you have one, a short description of what you're offering this festive season, and a website link (if applicable) to [email protected] and we'll add it to our virtual Christmas market.

Don't forget to mention any online services you may be offering, especially for those who are still self-isolating or may still feel uncomfortable visiting the high street in person.

The virtual Christmas market will be going live on our website on Wednesday, December 2 to coincide with the end of lockdown and reopening of shops and restaurants - so get in touch to make sure your business is included.

All businesses taking part will also be automatically added to the Peninsula Nub News Local List - a free directory of local businesses which remains on our website permanently.

If you have a festive event coming up, don't forget to add it to the Peninsula Nub News website - simply visit our What's On page and click the black 'Nub It' button to enter the event details - all for FREE. It's just another way we're supporting the Shotley peninsula community.
