Fire crews rescued a driver trapped in his BMW car after crashing into a tree in Holbrook.

Police, three fire crews, including one from nearby Holbrook station, and an ambulance went to the accident on the B1080 near Royal Hospital School this morning, just before 7.30am.

The road was closed for nearly an hour by police as the trapped motorist was rescued and crews left at 8.18am.

Although an air ambulance landed at the nearby Royal Hospital School playing fields, the driver's injuries were not judged to be life-threatening or life-changing and was taken to hospital by road.
