Another Shotley peninsula pub will not be open for New Year's Eve celebrations after staff shortages forced its closure.

The Bull at Brantham today announced it will not open tonight, and while they will open between 10am and 7pm on Friday with takeaways available, will not be seeing in the new year with customers.

Owners Paul and Gemma Chenery explained staff shortages due to Covid isolations and customer cancellation have wrecked their plans.

They will remain closed on New Year's Day, but do intend to open on Sunday, January 2, between 12noon and 5pm.

The Bull's closure follows news that the Freston Boot would not be open again until January 18, after also being forced to close from Tuesday due to staff isolating. Full story here.

It is not the first huge setback Paul and Gemma have suffered on New Year's Eve after a kitchen fire two year's ago disrupted celebrations.
