Career Opportunity: Permanent Works Design Co-ordinator

Due to increased workload, we are looking for a Permanent Works Design Co-ordinator who will join a dynamic, innovative, focused and engaged team, tackling an increase in workload from a variety of key clients, including the Environment Agency, Highways England, local authorities and private

As a result of design and build civil engineering schemes now becoming more common, coupled with our projected workload, we are seeking a Permanent works Design Co-ordinator to strengthen our busy design management team.

Main Duties include:

  • Proactively managing a design team which may include Consultants and/or specialist designers.
  • Attending meetings with clients, including presenting, and discussing design ideas and solutions.
  • Preparation of design documents, briefs, reports, and management plans.
  • Development and management of design programmes.
  • Reviewing design documents for compliance with scheme requirements, utilising gained knowledge and experience to advise on buildability and value engineering opportunities.

We re after someone with:

  • Good collaborative communication skills
  • Ideally an engineering background which allows them to envisage how schemes are built.
  • A liking for detail.
  • Programming software skills.
  • Awareness of applicable CDM Regs requirements.
  • An understanding of the need to work to accepted design processes, procedures, guidance, codes and standards.
  • A general understanding of common construction specifications.
  • Management skills to encourage designers to provide on time, right first time, solutions.
