The Royal Hospital School is hosting a Festival of the Sea weekend of celebrations (11-12 June) to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. This event is a public community event.

This is one of many events being hosted by the Festival of Suffolk. The Countess of Euston, H.M. Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk, invited the Royal Hospital School (RHS) to host such an event due to their Naval heritage and our close links to the Royal Navy.

Highlights on Saturday 11 June will include displays from the Royal Navy Parachute and Royal Marines Display Teams; RHS Marching Band; RHS Royal Navy Field Gun Crew; a Wildcat helicopter from 815 Naval Air Squadron; and entertainment from Motley Crew Sea Shanties.

There will be stands from HMS Ganges Museum, Holbrook Coast Guard, RNLI Harwich and the Sea Cadets. Refreshments will be available to purchase and guests are welcome to bring rugs to picnic in the grounds. A sailing regatta between the Royal Navy and RHS sailing teams will take place at the neighbouring reservoir, Alton Water.

A superb Sunset Ceremony will precede a Nautical Ball in the evening. On Sunday 12 June The Royal Marines School of Music Band & The Royal Hospital School Band Joint Concert will perform 'Musical Picnic in the Park' starting at 15:00, a Jubilee Thanksgiving Service will follow with a joint service with local churches and parishes at 17:00 in the RHS Chapel.

The events are free (excluding the Nautical Ball) and open to the public.

Booking is only required for the 'Musical Picnic in the Park' concert, Jubilee Thanksgiving Service and Nautical Ball.
