The good news for Brantham Athletic was they managed to score not just their first goal in >> and actually went two up against second placed Newmarket Town.
The bad news is they then conceded three goals to lose 3-2 at home and slump to their 10th defeat in a row and extend what is understood their worst run of results in the club's 147-year history.
After a goalless first half, Brantham went ahead through Leo Morley-Robertson and Louie Bloom and some good defending and fine saves from Finn Shorten appeared to be keeping the Jockeys at bay.
But goals from Jake Eady, Jordan Foster and James Seymour broke the hearts of the small Brantham followers and consolidate Town's second spot.
A wage dispute affecting some senior players, and the departure of management duo Pip Boyland and Alex Drennan, has left Brantham in the doldrums.
