Film and television comedian and presenter Griff Rhys Jones has joined the battle to prevent seven contemporary looking houses being built in the farm yard next to Erwarton Hall.
The application asks permission for the conversion, repair, and extension of existing farm buildings to form five dwellings, erection of garage, the demolition of buildings (including the existing Dutch Barn and metal clad barn), the erection of two more new dwellings, provision of new vehicular access to The Street and associated landscaping.

Babergh has continued to fund a joint initiative offering food and activities for families in need during the school holidays.
Food parcels, containing ingredients for five meals for a family of four, will be distributed throughout the district in the February half-term. The box also includes recipe cards and links to online cooking tutorials, to help families prepare filling, tasty, and healthy meals.

The greatest Suffolk story there is. Brantham villagers have been left 'disappointed' after developers overturned a Babergh decision at appeal and can now build up to 65 homes.
Babergh planning committee initially rejected the scheme arguing the development would merge the East End of East Bergholt with Brantham among other factors, but the applicants appealed through legal counsel and a planning inspector representing the Secretary of State allowed their appeal.

Shotley library's successful model in providing a customer access point for the peninsula is to be used as the basis for a similar operation in Sudbury.
Babergh District Council, in partnership with Suffolk Libraries, has announced its customer access point will move to Sudbury Library, providing digital support and face to face services.
