Shotley peninsula remains in Tier Two leading up to Christmas - what it means for us

The Shotley peninsula has remained under Tier two restrictions despite rapidly rising COVID-19 infection rates across Suffolk and pressure on hospitals, care homes and social care in the lead up to Christmas.

Today's decision by central Government to keep Suffolk in the High Alert tier (or tier two) means that the current restrictions will continue until the next national review.

Peninsula residents urged to 'Be Winter Ready'

Coronavirus has changed many people's circumstances this year, with the pandemic hitting some households in multiple ways leading to enduring impacts on health and wealth.

Power cuts are rare these days, but for some, dealing with such an inconvenience at this difficult time, could be more worrying due to their personal circumstances. So UK Power Networks is urging Suffolk residents to help spread the word about its free Priority Services Register so those eligible can receive free extra help during a power cut.

Peninsula school to close early as Suffolk faces staying in tier two

Holbrook Academy will close away early for its Christmas break, as schools in other parts of the country are today being threatened with legal action if they see pupils home before the end of term.

Headteacher Tom Maltby wrote to parents explaining the school would use an extra personal development (PD) day to enable the academy to close this Thursday, rather than Friday.
