Suffolk's highly-acclaimed legal advice centre has announced the establishment of a new service aimed at assisting elderly residents and their families to access the right support, including those in Shotley peninsula villages.
Based in St Matthews' Street, Ipswich and co-located with its sister organisation, Ipswich and Suffolk Council for Racial Equality, the Suffolk Law Centre (SLC) was established in April 2018 after a successful crowdfunding campaign.

Fire crews rescued a driver trapped in his BMW car after crashing into a tree in Holbrook.
Police, three fire crews, including one from nearby Holbrook station, and an ambulance went to the accident on the B1080 near Royal Hospital School this morning, just before 7.30am.

Armed with boxes of popcorn and plenty of Piglet ears, residents and staff celebrated A.A Milne's 139th birthday and National Winnie the Pooh Day by listening to classic Disney songs all morning.
Staff and residents dressed as Disney characters, and in the afternoon watched the 2018 movie 'Christopher Robin' with a box of popcorn.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) has been recognised nationally for its response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In August 2020, Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) was commissioned by the Home Secretary to examine how fire and rescue services are responding to the pandemic.By Derek Davis

Suffolk health leaders have said capacity is now in place to ramp up vaccinations across the county, but recognised there were still some issues on supply.
Dr Ed Garratt, chief executive of the Ipswich and East Suffolk, West Suffolk and North Essex clinical commissioning groups addressed the county's Health and Wellbeing Board on Thursday morning where he said the county has increased capacity with 19 primary care network sites delivering the jabs.
Retained firefighters at Holbrook station were given an early morning alarm call today when they responded to a shout in Shotley.
The fire crew scrambled at 01.51 to answer an automatic alarm which had been set off in Estuary Road Shotley Gate, but were stood down 30 minutes later after attending the incident.
