Suffolk's highly-acclaimed legal advice centre has announced the establishment of a new service aimed at assisting elderly residents and their families to access the right support, including those in Shotley peninsula villages.

Based in St Matthews' Street, Ipswich and co-located with its sister organisation, Ipswich and Suffolk Council for Racial Equality, the Suffolk Law Centre (SLC) was established in April 2018 after a successful crowdfunding campaign.

Suffolk health leaders have said capacity is now in place to ramp up vaccinations across the county, but recognised there were still some issues on supply.

Dr Ed Garratt, chief executive of the Ipswich and East Suffolk, West Suffolk and North Essex clinical commissioning groups addressed the county's Health and Wellbeing Board on Thursday morning where he said the county has increased capacity with 19 primary care network sites delivering the jabs.

Retained firefighters at Holbrook station were given an early morning alarm call today when they responded to a shout in Shotley.

The fire crew scrambled at 01.51 to answer an automatic alarm which had been set off in Estuary Road Shotley Gate, but were stood down 30 minutes later after attending the incident.
