Suffolk health leaders have said capacity is now in place to ramp up vaccinations across the county, but recognised there were still some issues on supply.

Dr Ed Garratt, chief executive of the Ipswich and East Suffolk, West Suffolk and North Essex clinical commissioning groups addressed the county's Health and Wellbeing Board on Thursday morning where he said the county has increased capacity with 19 primary care network sites delivering the jabs.

Retained firefighters at Holbrook station were given an early morning alarm call today when they responded to a shout in Shotley.

The fire crew scrambled at 01.51 to answer an automatic alarm which had been set off in Estuary Road Shotley Gate, but were stood down 30 minutes later after attending the incident.

A number of walks and cycling trails on the Shotley peninsula have been included as part of the 2020 Discovering Suffolk project launched this week.

The Two Rivers walk, taking in miles of paths along the Orwell and Stour, the Cycle Explorer guide featuring Alton Water and Pin Mill and the Stour Valley path from near Brantham, are among the county's best routes.

Work on new homes has started in Queensland, Shotley

Babergh has invested more than £20m buying 117 new homes for low-income house-hunters, including those on the Shotley peninsula.

This multi-million-pound investment in social housing will see new properties added to their existing council house stock of more than 6,000 homes, or made available to buy as shared ownership homes – helping low-income families onto the first rung of the property ladder.
