A Wherstead businessman has denied being involved in a conspiracy to grow £1.8m worth of cannabis plants.
Ian Bacon, 66, of Bourne Terrace, Wherstead, pleaded not guilty to a single charge of conspiring to produce a class B drug.
Suffolk fire investigators looking into a blaze at a Shotley house, which caused significant damage to the roof.
The family escaped unhurt after a fire broke out on the first floor and spread into the roof area of their end-terrace home opposite St Mary's Church in Shotley, on Sunday lunchtime.

A wartime pre-fab on the main road between Shotley and Chelmondiston will be demolished and replaced with four new homes, if planning proposals are approved.
Babergh has received an application by Pinewood Land and Development for outline planning permission to demolish the current pre-fabricated building and associated ancillary buildings, build the four houses, create a new vehicular access off the B1456, put in 12 car parking spaces and make improvements to landscaping.

Hardy Harkstead market stallholders made a slightly soggy but relatively successful return today.
Due to current Covid restrictions the monthly market was held outside in the car park with many stalls using gazebos to protect their wares from the drizzle.

The owners of the residential caravan park at Gate Farm Road have appealed against a decision refusing them permission to take the next step towards placing another 13 static caravans on the site.
Babergh turned down an application by Shotley Caravan request for a Lawful Development Certificate to station 26 residential static caravans on the land overlooking the river Orwell.
