Agreement has been given for Suffolk County Council to pursue a Government plan to overhaul bus services, which aims to significantly improve public transport provision, for places such as the Shotley peninsula.

Suffolk County Council's cabinet on Tuesday afternoon agreed to pursue the 'enhanced partnership' model of delivering bus services – effectively a set-up where the council and bus providers will jointly deliver improved services.

Babergh residents are being urged to show their support for brave service personnel by taking part in Armed Forces Day celebrations next week.

Suffolk marks the day annually as part of its ongoing commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, and this year's events will be hosted by Babergh District Council in partnership with the military, Hadleigh Town Council and the Royal British Legion.

The Suffolk Law Centre (SLC), which offers free legal advice and support for residents unable to afford the costs of a lawyer, has issued a stark warning about the impending cut-off point for European Union nationals to legally remain in the UK, including some living in the Shotley peninsula area.

The European Union Settlement Scheme (EUSS) requires citizens of the bloc's 27- member countries to apply for permission to continue living and, where relevant, working in this country.
