Babergh helping businesses

Businesses on the peninsula and beyond are being urged to find out what financial support is available to them as well as seeking advice and guidance in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, the Government has announced a package of measures to help small and large businesses as well as the self-employed who have been impacted by COVID-19.

Community groups and organisations on the Shotley peninsula can now apply for immediate grants of up to £2,500 as part of Babergh's response to COVID-19.

More than £80,000 is being made available to both new and existing groups in the district who are playing a key role in protecting vulnerable residents and helping our communities remain resilient during the Coronavirus outbreak.

Speeding drivers taking advantage of the quieter roads, due to the Covid-19 lock down, have been warned they will be caught and prosecuted.

Tim Passmore, Suffolk's police and crime commissioner, made the vow after a peninsula councillor called on him to tackle a perceived increase in speeding on our country roads, by what he described as 'Mr Toads'.

With a constantly changing menu, the Rose in Shotley, offers an excellent choice of takeaways, five nights a week (from Wednesday's to Sunday roasts). They also provide lunches for the Over 60s on Friday lunchtimes, which are delivered by volunteers.
