Subscribe today...Final approval has been given for a new commercial park that will create up to 300 jobs on the Shotley peninsula close to the A14 at Wherstead – and the first occupants have already been agreed.
Pigeon Investment Management Ltd have confirmed that fine wine merchants Lay & Wheeler will occupy the first of four warehouse units to be built off the A137 and Bobbits Lane at Wherstead, which secured the final planning permission needed on Wednesday following approval of outline plans in July last year.

The first ever social prescribing on the Shotley peninsula was just what the doctor ordered as dozens of villagers took their first steps to improving their health through mild physical activity.
Partners from Shotley and Holbrook GP practice, Active Suffolk, South Rural Primary Care Network, Shotley Open Spaces and Babergh's communities team came together to organise the health and wellbeing event at Shotley Village Hall on Wednesday.
Holbrook's coastguard crew were among a joint response as a body was recovered from the river Orwell near to Orwell Bridge
Suffolk's emergency services were called to the Strand, Wherstead, at 6am on Sunday after reports that a person was in the water.

The owner off a controversial totem pole in a Brantham garden has agreed to repaint a section of it, after complaints by villagers prompted a visit by the police.
Concerns were raised over an image within the pole, which was considered by some people as having racist overtones.

The owner of a totem pole in a Brantham front garden has been reported to Suffolk police for an alleged hate crime.
Residents in the village have taken exception to a carving within the large pole, which we have decided to publish to provide context, and they have alleged it has racist connotations.
