Update: No arrests after woman injured in Shotley car crash

UPDATED: Police have confirmed no arrests will follow after an accident in Shotley yesterday when two people were taken to hospital.

It appears a white Nissan Micra crossed the white lines due to a medical issue and collided with an oncoming grey coloured Honda.

A section of the Street was closed between 5.30pm and reopened at 8pm.

*A woman was freed from her car by fire crews this afternoon (Sunday) after a two car collision in Shotley this afternoon.

Crews from Holbrook and Ipswich were called to the incident on the road outside the Corner Garage in Shotley at around 5.30pm.

The woman was struggling to breathe after the air bag went off in her vehicle and was taken to hospital.

Police have confirmed she suffered arm and neck injuries and second casualty was also taken to hospital..

One of the four occupants of the car suffered a minor injury and was also taken to hospital, while others were shaken up.

Car drivers and residents quickly went to aid of the casualties, called emergency services and set up diversions, keeping delays on the B1456 and The Street to a minimum,

An off duty police office on his way home from a shift stopped to help out and coordinate the incident.

Emergency services were quickly on scene.
