Babergh, which covers the Shotley peninsula as part of the district council, is seeking Administrative Support Officer to join its busy Development Management Team based in Ipswich.

You will join on a full-time, fixed-term or secondment basis for six months and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £19,312 - £19,698 per annum.

Babergh is proud of the role it plays in creating the environment, economy and communities for the district and has consistently been voted amongst the top places to live in the UK.

Working together across our councils and with our partners in the public, private and voluntary sectors, we provide excellent services to our 190,000 residents across Babergh and Mid Suffolk - working hard to provide homes, support our communities, boost local economy, protect our environment, and keep our districts clean, tidy and safe.

Responsibilities of our Administrative Support Officer will include:

Setting up new cases in our Planning IT System (Uniform)

Uploading and labelling documents in our Document Management System

Redacting any sensitive information as required under GDPR

Undertaking general day-to-day administrative tasks to assist the teams, including telephone and email management.

The role is not limited to the above and you may be asked to assist in other tasks as and when they arise.

This is an ideal platform to develop a career within the planning service. This role could lead to progression in either a technical or an administrative role.

What we are looking for in our Administrative Support Officer:

We are looking for someone who is a hardworking team player who shares our values, commitment and motivation to make a difference for our districts.

You will need to be accurate and methodical in your approach with an ability to work both on your own and as part of a team. With excellent IT skills, you will regularly use a variety of software to input data and research information. Attention to detail is a priority as all planning application forms, plans and documents are published on the Planning Search Facility on our website.

You will be flexible, enthusiastic, proactive and have a willingness to take ownership of tasks.

This role is normally based at our modern and conveniently located office accommodation, however, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been working from home and it has worked really well for us.

What we can offer our Administrative Support Officer:

Our employee benefits include a generous leave entitlement, access to the Suffolk Green Travel Plan, gym discounts and a competitive pension scheme. We also offer a range of training and development and will give you all the support you need, for your career and wellbeing.
