Questions remain over £10k funds as failed Pin Mill community group applies to be struck off companies register
Definitive details are being sought to find out where an outstanding £10,000 will be distributed when the failed Pin Mill Management Community Interest Company is struck off.
An application was made by the CIC, whose secretary is listed as Roberta (Bobby) Clarke, on Monday June 12 to be voluntarily struck off a register business at companies House.
The first notice in the Gazette, is due to be posted on Tuesday, June 20 as part of the winning up process.
That means the CIC, formed in 2010 to manage the hard and collect mooring fees, will no be able to trade and will cease to exist within two months of the notice, which can be challenged.
Nub News revealed in July 2021 the CIC was to be dissolved. Full story here....
The last accounts, filed by Ian Saunders in May 2023, show the CIC still has £10,100 in is bank account, even after making a £2,314 loss due to a legal bill.
The rules state that money should be given to a charity, however the CIC directors haven't been able to say definitively where the money will go and claim 'it will be down to CIC regulators'.
Babergh District Council sub leases the Hard from Ipswich Borough Council, and in turn sub leased to the not for profit CIC, which was responsible for the maintenance, provision of moorings and collecting fees on the foreshore and the Hard.
Among the remaining seven directors is Babergh councillor Bryn Hurren, who is chair of the district's Audit and Standards Committee .
Pin Mill Management Community Interest Company was contacted and a director confirmed it was.
The current active list of directors are named as:
Roberta Clarke
Augustus Curtis
Malcom Harding
Jane Harman
Bryn Hurren
Ryan Jones
Ian Saunders
