It is said that If physical activity was a pill, it would be classed as a wonder drug, however too many of us do not take the recommended dose.

An increase in physical activity alongside a healthy lifestyle helps you look after your heart, maintain a healthy weight, reduce your risk of serious illness and strengthen muscles and bones. It can also reduce stress levels and lift your mood.

The Active Wellbeing service provided by Active Suffolk, recognises the importance of physical activity, where the team work hard to support local people to begin fulfilling the recommendations to improve health and wellbeing, whilst also managing existing conditions.

The Active Wellbeing service launched last month from the Shotley & Holbrook surgery. The service has been set up for adults aged 50+ who are doing less than the recommend levels of physical activity a week and is also for those that are currently suffering with poor health, a long-term condition or low mental wellbeing.

Your local Physical Activity Adviser, Janet will support you to overcome barriers to physical activity and help you to discover new ways to be active from home or in the local community by identifying what is appropriate for you.

Janet, Physical Activity advisor says "I am delighted to be able to work with the team at the Holbrook and Shotley surgery to encourage patients and staff alike to feel more positive about becoming physically active. I know it can often take a little bit of support and advise to help make small changes and I encourage patients to come and see me"

Due to the current pandemic, the service has been adapted to offer patients video calls or telephone consultations until face to face appointments can resume.

Book your appointment today by contacting Janet on [email protected] or 07557633724 or sign up online here...
