Wednesday's Suffolk Wonder

A quick glance by the unknowing driving past the church[like building in Tattingstone would never know it is actually a hone. Legend has it that local squire White's wife who had become house bound wanted a better view from their mansion. So, around 1790, Squire Whit eenlarged and embellished a couple of existing cottages, adding a tower and some gothic windows. He called his folly The Tattingstone Wonder, and the story goes that he declared that the local people were wont to wonder at nothing, so he would give them something to wonder at.
