Thursday's Peninsula Breakfast Briefing

Did you know?

World champion beer mat flipper Dean Gould from Suffolk set a world record for beermat catching which was shown on TVs Record breakers, on this day 20 years ago. A stack of 2,390 beermats was loaded on one elbow, the stack was then dropped and caught palm up, and held in one hand for at least five seconds without the other hand, arm or body touching or helping with the catch. Seven years ago, in October 2013, Dean also set a record for beermat speed flipping at the Royal British Legion, Felixstowe, flipping 1,000 beermats in just 28.02 seconds.

More modest attempts have taken place in Shotley, as pictured.
