About hares... Hares are small mammals related to rabbits and belonging to the same family (Leporidae) but are larger. The favourite habitat of the hare is in meadows, fields and clearings. Hares usually live from four to eight years in the wild, but they can live for as long as twelve years in thee Suffolk countryside. There are 32 species of hare and are are native to Africa, Eurasia, North America, and the Japanese archipelago.
