Brantham boss Michael Brother hailed on loan Ipswich Town keeper Toby Egan as the Blue Imps beat promotion favourites Wroxham.

Brantham moved level on points with Wroxham, although they have played seven games more, and the Yachtsmen have matches in hand on second placed Norwich United, who are 11 points ahead in the Thurlow Nunn Premier League.

Two goals from Joss Neale within six minutes, who went off injured 20 minutes later, gave the Blue Imps a solid half-time lead before Mac Gee gave the Yachtsman hope, but they were thwarted by Egan.

Blues under-23s keeper, previously on loan from his home town club Haverhill, made two excellent second half saves and one in the first with his foot to thwart, the Norfolk side, which included former Norwich City Premier League players Grant Holt and Simon Lappin.

"It was a really good performance from him (Egan)," Brothers told BBC Radio Suffolk Sport. "He knows a couple of the lads here and that helped.

"He was very vocal early on, made a good save with his foot in the first half and two really important saves in the second.

"I suppose as a keeper from Ipswich you would expect it, but he was excellent."

Egan told the club website: "We came away with a win so we can't ask much more. I'm loving it here at the moment. They are a great bunch of lads."

Harrison Bacon, on loan from Leiston, rattled the crossbar in the second half as Brantham secured their seventh win in nine games.

Brothers' Blue Imps go to league leaders Stowmarket Town on Tuesday evening in quarter finals of the Suffolk Cup, with the final to be played at Portman Road.
